TGB is pleased to announce the signing of Baltimore Orioles prospect Christian Turnipseed. The Littleton, Colorado native was drafted in the 28th round of the 2015 MLB Draft out of Georgia Gwinnett. The right-hander did not allow an earned run in 28 and 1/3 innings during his professional debut in 2015, a streak that continued another 5 and 2/3 innings into the 2016 season. Turnipseed pitched to a 3.12 ERA in 2016 while converting 17 save opportunities. He struck out 57 batters in just 52 innings pitched and kept opposing hitters to a .212 average against. Turnipseed is excited to get the season started and is expected to earn a late inning role with High-A Frederick in 2017.
TGB is pleased to announce the signing of Minnesota Twins prospect Michael Theofanopoulos. The left-handed pitcher was taken in the 30th round in 2014 after playing three years at the University of California, Berkeley. Theofanopoulos enjoyed a breakout year in 2016, splitting the season between the class A Cedar Rapids Kernels and class A-Advanced Fort Myers Miracle. The Pleasanton, California native posted career bests in ERA (2.20), batting average against (.179) and WHIP (1.16) while also striking out 84 batters in just 65 and 1/3 innings pitched. Theofanopoulos has reported to spring training in Fort Myers and could start the year at Double-A with the Chattanooga Lookouts.
